The 2.3L is a very good/robust engine and should last a long time if taken care of. They typically burn oil though as you mentioned and I think a good amount of premature failures are simply due to careless owners who run them dry and never or rarely check their oil level. I have to add around a 1/2 quart every 1,000 miles.

18184 posts · Joined 2012. #5 · Sep 20, 2023 (Edited) The 2.0 definitely has slightly more torque (264 vs 240 ft lbs) and delivers more of a rush of it when you put your foot down. The 1.6 is more refined and feels a little more like a gasoline engine (and the transmission is tons better sorted than the 6-speed in the Gen 1).

Hi Just got mine checked out as the DPF was flashing and its a stretched chain (10.7 degrees out so only .35 over the tolerance). I have also previously had the sump pickup unblocked and had to change the oil at 8500 miles as it had filled with diesel.
